Narrabri Eisteddfod

Our annual Narrabri Eisteddfod is always a keenly anticipated event at Narrabri Public School. Our students polish and tune their performances, as well as their instruments, to produce quality pieces that always amaze and impress. We kicked of our group performances on Tuesday with the Infants and Primary Choir. Our Infants students, supported by Mrs Sarah Ross, performed the National Anthem with sign language, using gloved hands to enhance their performance. As always, Ms Sharon Stoltenberg took her primary choir to the next level, performing the songs, ‘Ben’, and ‘The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)’. Their outstanding effort earned them a First place win and they proudly brought the trophy back to display in the school office, sharing their win with our whole school community. We look forward to many more performances over the coming weeks and encourage our families to keep an eye on our social media and website platforms to share in their children’s success.

Infants Garden Upgrade

Over the past few weeks, our staff and students have worked hard to get our school grounds back to their usual high standard, after the modifications made as part of the Cooler Classroom Project. Our General Assistant, Mr Nipperess has enjoyed the helping hands of our Garden Gurus and has been constructing various trellis and garden beds for an upgrade of our Infants Vegetable Gardens. In total, the gardens will now have 12 small garden beds and 2 large ones, designed to enable our smaller gardeners to confidently move in and around the beds for the purposes of planting, garden maintenance and harvesting. Sub pods have also been purchased in place of existing compost systems, supporting our sustainable living initiatives. At present, our Gurus have crops of sweet potato, string beans, late self-sown tomatoes, and asparagus, along with an abundance of herbs. Once this area is complete winter crops will be replanted from our seed-sowing project, that was established from our prizes won in the recent Orman Shield.

Simultaneous Storytime

Simultaneous Storytime

Yesterday, Wednesday 25th May, our students enjoyed participating in the National Simultaneous Storytime, where over a million children across Australia will tune it at 11am to listen to Josh Pyke read his wonderful storybook, ‘Family Tree’. Other guest presenters during this time will be the Governor General David Hurley and his wife, Mrs Hurley. Mrs Ebonnie Whan has been working on a school-wide project, making a tree of the many hands that contribute to our school family and we celebrated Wednesday with a dress-up day, coming dressed as another family member.

Girls Softball:  (Back row L-R) Olivia Shoobert, Bella Lettice, Georgia Herden, Ashlyn Saunders, Leairah Smith, (Front row L-R) Grace Lennox, Eva Goodwin, Lily McCahon, Eliza Lennox and Chloe Cameron

Softball and Toch Football

Sport is always a highlight, particularly for our Stage 3 students. Last Thursday was a day filled with sporting adventure, with many of our students attending the Girls Softball Knockout, along with the Boys and Girls Touch Football Knockout. The girls played an outstanding game of softball, displaying sportsmanship and our Core Values throughout. The girls came away with an impressive win, with 24 runs to 11 after 3 innings. In touch football, our boys and girls teams played with great spirit, with the boys team coming away victorious, winning 12 tries to 4.
