This year’s theme for Naidoc Week was Heal Country. We were fortunate to be able to celebrate with our school community on the last Friday of Term 2.
As lifelong learners we continue to grow in our understanding of culture and days such as our NAIDOC day help us to understand and draw attention to the importance of understanding our identity.
Country is fundamental to family, lore, ceremony, traditions and language. Through language and songs we learn of the connection to country. As we explore Healing Country we embrace cultural knowledge and understanding and heritage of Australia’s First Nation. The culture and values of Aboriginal people are respected and we equally value all cultures.
At our assembly our future cultural ambassadors relayed an important message and shared their thoughts. Our next generation will take on an important role in healing country.
NPS would like to acknowledge Auntie Pattie for her generosity in sharing culture, not only at NPS but across our community, and Clinton Lamb for his contribution to our NAIDOC celebrations. Healing Country is about sharing, valuing and understanding the significance of culture in our lives.
