Last week stage 2 attended the University of Newcastle SMART Program Science Show. It was a hands on STEM performance based on the theme of ‘Force and Motion’. Demonstrations used some audience volunteers and showed the use of push and pull forces, magnetism and gravity. A highlight for the students were the mini Alka-Seltzer Rockets, the Toroidal vortex air cannon that shot out smoke rings and the high powered combustion rocket that shot a ping pong ball across the hall at high speed. The students were in awe of the experiments and asked the scientists many well thought questions.
