Stories and highlights

At Narrabri Public School, celebrations play a vital role in fostering a strong sense of community and recognising student success. Each year, our school hosts a wide range of events that highlight the achievements, talents, and efforts of our students. Key occasions include Presentation Day, the Year 6 Farewell, ANZAC and NAIDOC ceremonies, sporting carnivals, book fairs, and creative showcases.

We also value the importance of regular recognition through merit assemblies, class awards, and milestone acknowledgements. Our school community comes together for breakfast celebrations and special morning gatherings, providing opportunities to connect, celebrate achievements, and strengthen school spirit. These events reflect our commitment to recognising student growth and building a supportive, inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to succeed.

School Event Highlights

Assemblies

At Narrabri Public School we hold two assemblies each week.

Whole School Assembly – Monday 9:15am - the whole school assembly is held under the Primary COLA. At this assembly we highlight students’ achievements and present class and school awards.

Infants and Primary Assemblies – Wednesday 2:15pm - alternate each fortnight, with Infants assemblies being held one week and primary assemblies the next. Each week a different class runs the assembly and presents an item. You can check when your child’s class will be running the assembly on our school calendar available on the School Bytes app.

Parents and community members are very welcome to attend our school assemblies.

Special Assemblies and Ceremonies

Narrabri Public School hosts a range of assemblies and ceremonies each year to celebrate student achievement and mark important occasions. These include ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, Education Week, SRC and Silver and Gold badging ceremonies, and our end-of-year year 6 final assembly and our Presentation Day.

Family and Community Events

Narrabri Public School hosts a range of family and community events throughout the year to involve families in school life and support student learning. These include NAIDOC Week, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day breakfasts, the Easter Hat Parade, Book Week celebrations and parades, and Grandparents Day. The events give families the chance to participate in school activities, celebrate student achievements, and strengthen connections between home and school.

School Fundraising Events

Our school holds a variety of fundraising events each year or every two years to support programs and student activities. The Colour Run and Jump Rope for Heart are regular highlights, while the Student Representative Council (SRC) organises fundraising activities such as discos, colour days, and competitions to contribute to our end-of-year celebrations. Our major biannual event is the school fete, which brings students, families, and the wider community together to raise funds and enjoy a day of fun and entertainment.

"We love our school for its supportive community and commitment to every student’s success. Our child feels safe and inspired every day.” — a parent of Narrabri Public School
